Major Life Update [Bullshit]
TLDR: We’re moving across the country, so I’m pausing this blog
Hello readers,
My gut tells me to open with an apology. People in my personal life always tell me I apologize too much, but posts like this go against the whole point of this space. I promised you when I started that you’ll never have to know my life story to learn how to make the perfect mashed potatoes, but sometimes that life story comes crashing in like the Kool-Aid man and all you can do is pick up the pieces.
Before I become too self-absorbed and start rambling, though, I’ll get straight to the point: my family is driving across two countries in August and moving over four thousand miles away. Further, not only are we about to experience a massive change of scenery, but I’m also experiencing a massive career change as I try to move into a completely new industry and we start the next chapter of our lives. Also, don’t even get me started on having to learn the eccentricities of a different stove and oven. Given these massive shifts, I have to take a hiatus from this blog. I will be back eventually as I love cooking and sharing recipes new and old with all of you, but until I have a better picture of what day-to-day life is going to look like I have to step away.
I know we’re all drowning in bullshit these days as the utopian promise of the internet festers into today’s dystopian alienation engine (and this platform in particular certainly has its own problems with spreading fascist propaganda), but we can still build interesting places where we can be our weird, honest, beautiful selves. I hope y’all have enjoyed reading as much as I’ve enjoyed workshopping these recipes and sharing them with you. If all goes well, I’ll hopefully be back here before winter.

I assume by all the trademarks that this came from a sponsored cookbook of some kind, but this has been bouncing around my family for so long that I don’t know exactly where it came from. Anyway, cook some delicious food, make community where you can, stand up to fascists, and be the groovy doom person you want to see in the world.
